Recently there has been an increase in questions from our clients as cybersecurity awareness has risen. JEI Tech is excited that awareness is growing and regardless of how or who or when you gained this new awareness, JEI tech would like to dive into some of the lessons we have learned with our own events and how we are doing our best to prevent any future threats.

Hours can be spent going over what that involves and what it affects. At JEI Tech we have tried to break this down into the key areas with why and how we protect our clients.

How JEI Tech Protects Clients:

Cyber Insurance 

• Your first line of defense should be cyber insurance. JEI Tech does not sell cyber insurance, but we will review your policy in your business insurance. JEI Tech has found increasingly the insurance supplied is either inadequate or missing critical information which will lead to denied claims and loss of money. Please ensure you review your cyber insurance.
• Cyber Insurance can be paired with Cyber warranty, Cyber warranty can provide gap coverage depending on you insurance coverage. 

Access to Internet & Network security

• JEI Tech recommends two internet connections with speeds of over 50Mbps on both. We can provide single static seamless connections or standard side by side dual connections 
• JEI Tech uses world leading WatchGuard firewalls to protect and manage internet access focusing on the following 
  • Web filtering 
  • Geo blocking 
  • App filtering 
• JEI Tech builds client specific internet connections, including in excess of 1GB air Fiber connections. We recommend connections not be slower than 50Mbps. 
• The internet connections need to have low jitter, latency and loss. 
• Segmenting networks so sensitive data and devices are not all on the same network is important. JEI Tech uses cloud managed switches and Wi-Fi devices to implement a minimum of 4 networks for every business to ensure that data is properly segmented. Cloud management allows us to ensure all devices are up to date with the latest firmware and configurations as well as for logging and troubleshooting.

Data Integrity

Secure your data 

• JEI Tech encrypts client hard drives and runs 4 levels of security to protect your data 
• We maintain your antivirus while pairing it with an MDR/EDR (Managed Detection & Response) and SOC (security operations center) for 24/7 monitoring and action. 
• We use application control software that will not allow unknown programs to run and be implemented. 
• JEI Tech uses Vulnerability monitoring software for monitoring the security and integrity of the systems and software. 
• JEI Tech offers Windows and MAC MFA programs to prevent unauthorized logins at the computer level. 

Replication & Backup

• We use cloud backups to ensure any systems we backup have offsite secure replication of your data. 
• This software monitors all files so that any changes that would indicate your files have been compromised is picked up and we are notified. 
• All backups are tested for folder level integrity every backup and all computer and server backups are tested for bootable integrity every two weeks with screenshot and service testing. 

Hardware uptime

Regular Maintenance

• JEI Tech runs an application that updates Windows with critical updates and over 100 other applications that can make you vulnerable to attack on a nightly basis for Computers and a weekly basis for servers 
• JEI Tech applications monitor the hardware health of your systems, hard drive, RAM & CPU usage are all monitored. 
• Timely Replacement – JEI Tech warns you of upcoming changes in technology and systems that require upgrading or replacement. 
• Emergency replacement – JEI Tech carries replacement parts for their clients so that they can, in an emergency, be back up and running quickly. 

Cloud Security

Is your e-mail secure

• JEI Tech Recognizes only two services for business grade email Microsoft 365 Business or Google Workspace when they are managed.
• JEI Tech uses a state-of-the-art “AI” filter called Avanan to protect against spam and phishing attempts.
• JEI Tech uses monitoring to track where your mail is accessed from. Not only do we track but we automatically GEO block unless requested to open non-US and Canada access. 
• Is your cloud data backed up? JEI Tech offers backups of all email and one drive or google drive folders multiple times a day with retention for up to 7 years. 
• Cloud is just someone else’s computer. Did you know Microsoft recommend 3rd party backup of its services? Most cloud services only Guarantee the last 30 days of information. If your email was gone tomorrow except for the last 30 days would that be, okay? 

Mobile device or phone security

Are your mobile devices or phones secure?

• JEI tech recommends MDM management on all business phones that are used for company business.

JEI Tech Further monitoring and maintenance

Smart or IOT devices on your network can and will open you and your systems to attacks. To prevent this JEI Tech recommends that you monitor and maintain all equipment on your network.
